Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about measurements, installation, warranty, and more. Don't see your question? Call us — Provo (801) 679-4325 or Lehi (801) 758-7608.

Do you offer free in-home measurements?

Yes. Fill out the form on our homepage or call either store, and we'll schedule a free, no-obligation in-home measurement — usually within 2–3 business days.

What does the lifetime installation warranty cover, and for how long?

Our installation warranty covers issues like seams coming apart or a stair coming loose — for the life of the job, we'll come back and fix it. It does not cover wrinkles or re-stretching; that's covered separately by our 2-year re-stretch warranty, which is double the 1-year re-stretch warranty typically offered by big box competitors.

How long does it take from measurement to installation?

We can typically get out for a free measurement within a couple of days. If you choose something we have in stock, installation is often done within a week. If a product needs to be special-ordered, or during our busier seasons, it can take longer — but the timeline above is fairly typical.

How much does carpet, LVP, and sheet vinyl cost?

Carpet starts at $9.99 per square yard, LVP (luxury vinyl plank) starts at $1.99 per square foot, and sheet vinyl starts at $9.99 per square yard — these are material prices. Padding, installation, and any needed prep work are additional. Get a free in-home measurement for a full, itemized quote on your space.

What's the difference between LVP, laminate, and hardwood — which is right for a basement?

LVP (luxury vinyl plank) is 100% waterproof and holds up best in basements, bathrooms, and other moisture-prone areas. Laminate looks similar but isn't waterproof, so it's better suited to dry living spaces. Hardwood is not recommended for basements due to moisture, but is a timeless choice for main living areas.

Why are your prices lower than big-box stores?

We import carpet and flooring direct from the manufacturer and buy in bulk, cutting out the showroom markup most retailers add. That's the same reason we've stayed the value option in Utah County for generations.

Do you move furniture or haul away old flooring?

We can remove and haul away your old flooring for an extra charge on top of standard labor — most customers have us do this. We typically don't move furniture as part of a standard job, but we sometimes can for an added charge; furniture-moving is priced job by job based on how much needs to move.

Which brands do you carry?

We carry Shaw, Mohawk, Engineered Floors, Dixie, Lexmark, Stanton, and more. Our featured brand for LVP is Lux Premier, including premium WPC and SPC flooring — Lux Premier is an LVP-specific brand and doesn't include hardwood.

Do you offer a military, veteran, or first responder discount?

Yes. Military, veteran, and first responder discounts are handled case by case, based on the specific products you're picking — ask your salesperson and they'll work out the discount with you.

Do you offer financing?

Yes, through Synchrony. Our most popular option is 6 months with no interest.

Do you work with builders, property managers, or realtors?

Yes, we work with builders, property managers, and realtors. Call either store to talk through your project.

Which areas do you serve?

Our showrooms are in Provo and Lehi, and we regularly serve customers throughout Utah County and into southern Salt Lake County — including Orem, American Fork, Pleasant Grove, Saratoga Springs, Eagle Mountain, Lindon, Vineyard, and Spanish Fork, plus Draper, Riverton, and South Jordan.

How long has Taylor Carpets been in business?

Taylor Carpets traces back to George Taylor's general store on Center Street in Provo in 1866. The flooring business has been family-run since 1956, when David Taylor left the Air Force to run the store — the same store that operates today.
